Embrace Slow, Steady Growth
Let’s face it, we love the idea of hitting that lottery. The idea of waking up a success.
It’s kind of how it’s portrayed to you on social media. You scroll through “overnight successes” pretty much every day. You watch 90-second body transformation videos.
But in reality, you probably don’t want to be an overnight success.
Slow and steady growth over time is just not very appealing.
You get little immediate gratification and you leave your dopamine system wanting more. You feel like you’re missing out on opportunities and trends. You feel like you’re giving your competitors all the advantage by growing slow. You feel like you’re in a constant state of plateau.
All of these things make it difficult to continue. They might stunt your motivation.
But all of these things are mostly illusions and fallacies.
Your overnight success may end up being the worst thing that ever happened to you. You might end up never being able to top that growth which leads to a constant state of disappointment. Ask anyone who’s written a very successful book or won the lottery.
By embracing slow and steady growth you create an environment for long-term sustainable success.
This steady growth allows you to keep your motivation up and continue to make progress.
You create an environment for sustainable habit development which is going to result in more and more growth over time.
Your decision making and emotional regulation become more and more bullet-proof over time.
Embrace the slow and steady growth that will lead you to long-term sustainable success along with a higher level of happiness and fulfillment.
